MAFP Field placement information

In the MAFP program, finding suitable environments to enrich learning with hands on experience is vital to the success of our graduates. With that in mind, we work closely with a number of organizations, government funded facilities and private practices, that assist our students in this important step, while building not only the vital experience, but networking strength as well.  Recent field placements have offered students the opportunity to engage in the following activities:

  • Work with prosecutors of domestic violence cases
  • Provide early intervention for at‐risk youth
  • Work as a deputy probation office
  • Provide substance abuse outpatient treatment
  • Counsel victims of domestic violence and their children
  • Learn to conduct death investigations for a county medical examiner
  • Provide outpatient treatment for sex offenders
  • Provide outpatient treatment for adults with cognitive disabilities
  • Counsel adolescents in public schools, drop-in clubs, and residential treatment facilities
  • Provide outpatient and halfway house treatment for criminal offenders
  • Train attorneys and witnesses to perform effectively in court
  • Counsel juvenile offenders
  • Provide assessment and treatment services in a correctional facility
  • Help investigators and attorneys eliminate discrimination in mental health facilities
  • Assist police psychologists and workplace violence consultants
  • Monitor domestic violence cases in the court system
  • Assist forensic evaluations provided by a psychologist in private practice
  • Help provide legal assistance and advocacy to victims
