Building Resilient Organizations for Humanitarian and Development Assistance Field Workers
The International Disaster Psychology Program in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver is delighted to host the Helper’s Fire II: Building Resilient Organizations for International Field Staff and Volunteers to be held in Denver, Colorado from May 18 through May 20. This international conference will bring together experts and practitioners in humanitarian and development assistance who are responsible for formulating the management systems, policies and procedures that support field staff working under conditions of severe stress. There will be a Pre-conference Institute on May 18 for those new to the field or for those looking for a historical perspective of previous Helper’s Fire work as well as a review of key resources and guidelines.

- Preparation and orientation
- Support during assignment
- Support after assignment
- Managing in crisis situations
- Response to critical incidents
- Developing measures for improved headquarters and field office management practices
