About the Honors Program Staff
Eric Gould (Director)
Eric Gould (Ph.D. University of London) is Professor of English at the University of Denver. In his thirty-five year tenure at the University of Denver he has been Vice Provost, Dean of Graduate Studies, Chair of the Department of English, and Special Advisor to the Provost. Currently he also chairs the Faculty Board of the Cherrington Global Scholars Program. During a three-year leave of absence between 1992 and 1995, he was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Drew University, N.J. He is the author/co-author/editor of seven books, his most recent being The University in a Corporate Culture (Yale UP, 2003). His primary fields of research are cultural studies and twentieth century international literature.
Shawn Alfrey (Assistant Director)
Shawn Alfrey received her B.A. from the University of Colorado and her Ph.D. in English and American Literature from Brandeis University. Her publications include several articles and a book, The Sublime of Intense Sociability: Emily Dickinson, H.D., and Gertrude Stein (Bucknell U P, 2000). She has taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses for several years in English departments at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado at Denver. She specializes in American literature, critical theory, and interdisciplinary humanities topics.
