Honors Opportunities at DU

Extreme Academics Student Panel

On October 9, three current and former DU students will share the story of how they received prestigious fellowships and scholarships and how that has affected their lives.

Derek Holmgren graduated from DU in 2007.  He is currently working toward his Ph.D. in 20th Century German History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Fellowship in Germany for 2007-2008. This experience paved the way for his current work.

Nathan McNew is majoring in Math and Physics and will graduate from DU in June. Last year he received the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for research in the sciences. Nathan is already taking graduate level classes here at DU and will be applying to graduate school soon.

Marcus Ostermiller graduated from Lamont School of Music last June, 2009.  He received the Jack Cooke Kent Scholarship for graduate studies and is now enrolled in New York University to work toward a Masters in Music. His biography is included on the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Press Release .
