Extreme Academics

Extreme Academics has been helping DU students get the most out of DU's academic opportunities since Fall 2009. Its purpose is to help DU undergraduates develop skills and discover opportunities to make them competitive for prestigious graduate programs and domestic and international post-graduate fellowships. The program includes an Opportunities Fair, workshops, graduate student and faculty panels, peer support and one-on-one guidance to help students identify their scholarly goals and develop ways to achieve them. The schedule lists the events offered, and students are welcome to attend any or all of them. Interested students will have the opportunity to work during Winter and Spring Quarters on individual projects with support from program directors.
Wednesday, September 27 from 2-4 in Mary Reed 1:
Dr. Alison Schofield, Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible and Judaic Studies, will talk about presenting your ideas and interests to different audiences, from graduate school interviewers to the national media. She will also share her experiences discussing her work on the Dead Sea Scrolls in the media, including on the History Channel and Travel Channel.
Next week: Writing Program Director Professor Doug Hesse and Shawn Alfrey will discuss written expression and the art of the proposal.
For more information, please contact Carol Helstosky, Danny McIntosh, or Shawn Alfrey.
