Honors Opportunities at DU

The Voltaire Society

The Voltaire Society is the Honors Student Organization but all DU students are welcome to participate in Voltaire Society events. Named after the cantankerous French philosophe, the Voltaire Society sponsors a number of social, cultural, and intellectual events each quarter which help you to "unleash your inner nerd."  The current list of events is below.  If you have ideas and would like to help plan Voltaire's events, please contact Matthew Farrell.

Speaker Series - Invite Your Professor!
The Voltaire Society sponsors a Speaker Series, where Honors students invite professors to share insight on their topics of interest. Our professors at the University of Denver have passions and interests that go beyond the courses they teach, and are willing and happy to share the wealth of knowledge that they have. Past speakers have included Professors George DeMartino on Marx and contemporary economic theory, and Mike Daniels on Excavations in Portugal.

This year's series began on October 13 with Associate Professor Frederique Chevillot speaking on "Walking the Academic Talk."

Do you have a professor in mind? Get in touch with Matthew Farrell. Talks in the Voltaire Speaker Series are open to all members of the DU community.
