Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any single-sex floors, or are all the floors in all the halls coed?

All of the floors in all of the halls are coed, with the exception of Centennial Halls. Halls has coed floors, all-male floors, and all-female floors.

How is the climate controlled in each room?

All of our units have thermostats.

Are there window blinds in every room?

All rooms have either blinds or curtains.

How do you match up roommates?

First-year students are matched based on the answers they provide to the questions on their application.

Do you provide custodial services?

Yes! We have a large staff dedicated to keeping our facilities fresh. The common areas, including common bathrooms are cleaned each day. Individual units are attended by the residents who live there.

I am concerned about a friend. Is there an anonymous way that I can report this?

Yes. We have created an online tool just for this purpose.

How and when do I mail in the $200 deposit?

First-year and new transfer students need to mail a check or money order to the Office of Admissions once the online application is completed. Graduate students need to send their deposit to the Housing and Residential Education office.

Why are there housing damage charges on my bill?

If you are responsible for causing damage to our facilities, we will place that charge directly onto your bill. In the case of damages that no one has taken responsibility for, we split the charge to repair that damage among the community members.

I have been awarded a housing grant, can I use this grant to live in one of the Greek houses?

As a first-year student your are not eligible to live in one of the Greek houses. Students finishing their first-year that meet all of the criteria are eligible to live in Greek housing. The following Greek houses qualify for the housing grant: Delta Zeta, Delta Delta Delta, Sigma Chi, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Kappa Sigma.

Friday, August 1, 2008   Last day to change meal plan for fall quarter

Monday, September 1, 2008  Centennial Halls, Johnson-McFarlane Halls and the first-year portion of Centennial Towers open beginning at 9 A.M. Check in for first-year residents is staggered with the first group at 9 A.M. and the second beginning at 11:30 A.M.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008  New student orientation begins

Friday, September 5, 2008  All Upper-class Residence halls and apartments open at 9 A.M.

Sunday, September 7, 2008  Students not checked in may be assigned to another room when they arrive

Monday, September 8, 2008  Fall classes begin

Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Fall room change date

Friday, October 31, 2008  Fall meal plan conversion deadline

Thursday, November 20, 2008  Last day of finals, meal plan ends with dinner, last day to change meal plan for winter quarter
