Welcome to the 2011 Annual Legal and Policy Update

This site is for individuals who have been identified as having job responsibilities that require understanding of and compliance with DU policies and federal, state, or local laws and regulations.

Participation in the Annual Legal and Policy Update is required of any appointed DU employee whose job responsibilities require that they understand, abide by, and oversee programs where others must understand and abide by University policies or federal and state laws and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, employees who complete annual performance reviews for appointed DU employees.

Identified individuals were notified in early November 2011 by email of their obligation to complete this annual training. These individuals must either (1) attend one of the public sessions offered on the dates listed below, or (2) complete the online version of the training.

Option 1:

    Public training sessions have been scheduled on the following dates:
        • Tuesday, 29 November 2011 at 9:00am-10:30am or 11:00am-12:30pm or 1:00pm-2:30pm
  • Wednesday, 7 December 2011 at 9:00am-10:30am or 11:00am-12:30pm or 1:00pm-2:30pm
      • Friday, 9 December 2011 at 9:00am-10:30am or 11:00am-12:30pm or 1:00pm-2:30pm

[Note: 11:00am sessions are designed for chairs and academic program directors]

Registration is through the Employee Tab on webCentral at http://webcentral.du.edu/ (Select Workplace Law and Policy from the training channel). Session capacity is 50; if you are waitlisted, also register for an open session.

Option 2:  An online version of the training will be published Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Individuals who have not attended the public sessions will be notified when the online version is published. You will need to complete the training, and the online quiz in Blackboard by January 31, 2011.

NOTE: If you have questions about whether or not your position requires this training, please contact your Division Human Resources Liaison. Human Resources will conduct a classification review if there are questions about the appropriate classification of your position in Banner system.

After Wednesday, 14 December, to complete the online training:


  1. Navigate to Blackboard at http://blackboard.du.edu/


  1. Enter your DU ID for the Username


  1. Enter your Password (same as webCentral and myWeb) - contact HR at 303.871.7420 if you need to reset your password.


  1. Select Legal Policy 11: 2011 Annual Legal and Policy Update under "My Courses".


  1. Click on 2011 Annual Legal and Policy Update on the left hand navigation and follow the steps outlined.
