The primary mission of the Humanities Institute of the University of Denver is to help build a better Colorado by enriching the community culturally. It bridges the scholarly pursuits of the University faculty in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences with the people of our state. The Institute provides a public forum for local and national speakers on current issues of importance, and seeks to enliven a stimulating academic discourse among the University's faculty on the campus. We organize annual special events, such as the presentation of distinguished guest speakers, to foster discussions on the state of the arts and culture in our world. We offer a Faculty Lecture Series to allow University of Denver faculty members the opportunity to share their current research or present recently published works. The lectures are offered monthly during the academic year, and promise a stimulating academic discussion. They are free and open to the public. We present an annual series of Salons in the Denver community. Based on the eighteenth century tradition of intellectual debate and discourse, Salons offer a leisurely opportunity for people to meet in private homes with a DU faculty member to discuss topics of mutual concern or interest. Salons are offered throughout the year, and registration is required. |
