The purpose of this application is to gain approval from DU to study abroad as a DU student on a non-DU program. You must apply for admission to your chosen study abroad program directly, not through the DU Study Abroad Office.
3. Select the term, duration, country, and program for which you are applying. If you do not see your study abroad program listed, select the generic Non-DU Program and continue.
4. When you have completed the online application, print it and take it to your academic advisor (from the department of your major), for his/her signature.
>> Note: If you have selected the generic Non-DU Program as your program, handwrite the specific program name on your application.
5. Complete the additional forms required for your DU application.
>> Click the Forms link on the left-hand side of this page to print them off
6. Submit your completed materials to the Study Abroad Office before the deadline.
7. If you have not yet applied for a passport, do so immediately! http://travel.state.gov/passport The passport can take several weeks to process, and you must have a passport before you can apply for a student visa. A visa isn’t required for all countries, but some have lengthy application processes. Ask your Study Abroad Advisor!
Application Deadlines for non-DU Programs
Priority Deadline: January 20th. For both fall and academic year programs. Applications turned in by this date will be granted immediate and optimal consideration. All ISEP applications must be completed by this priority deadline. DU offers a number of competitive programs: for these programs applications completed by the priority deadline will have the best chance of acceptance.
Regular Deadline: March 13th Applications turned in by this date will be reviewed as a group, with the strongest applications having an advantage for remaining spaces in competitive programs.
Applications received after the Regular Deadline will be considered on a space available basis.
Winter quarter / Spring semester deadline: October 1st. Spring quarter deadline is February 1st. For either winter quarter/spring semester programs or for spring quarter programs, submission earlier than the stated deadlines improves the likelihood of acceptance.
Cherrington Global Scholars program petition deadline: March 13th. Petitions will be reviewed after grades from winter quarter have been posted.
Remember that there are two parts to each application: the DU online application available through Myweb and the program specific applications. Please consult with your Study Abroad Advisor for program specific materials.
All materials should be turned into the Study Abroad Office. No application should be sent directly to a program.
