The most significant thing that I learned while I was abroad was that I can do more than I gave myself credit for. This applies to many different aspects, such as gaining confidence in both my French speaking abilities, as well as being able to navigate foreign streets and airports without getting lost. Of course, in those instances where I did get lost, the confidence to ask for help also came in handy.

This confidence came from being completely immersed in the Parisian culture, and has helped me learn how to solve problems that typically arise from cultural misunderstandings. I imagine that these problem solving skills will only seem easier in an English setting.
