Time Abroad: Fall 2007

Major: Journalism & Political Science

The four months I spent in Cork were all memorable. One of my lasting experiences was being a part of the UCC Philosophical Society. It is the debate society in UCC and one of the world's best. I was able to practice one of my favorite skills, learn about current issues in Ireland, and I also met many Irish friends that I'm still in touch with. They helped introduce me to life as an Irish college student and helped me find some amazing places off the beaten path in Cork.

Living abroad is not meant to be easy - especially when the comforts of home are thrown out of the window - but, it is the most worthwhile educational experience I've ever had. Coming back to DU, I have a new perspective on life and education here. Studying abroad has altered my view on what is possible for me after graduation, whether that's graduate school abroad or working for an organization abroad.
