ISEP supports international education by offering a mix of exchange programs, which are competitive in their placements. They also offer direct-enrollment options. This program is geared for independent students who wish to be immersed into the host university and, in many cases, who aim to increase their foreign language proficiency. It is rare for more than one DU student to be placed in the same location at the same time.

Location: ISEP offers opportunities at more than 100 universities in 35 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania. ISEP is listed within France and Spain sections because of its special importance for French and Spanish majors, but all ISEP locations qualify as DU Programs. Areas of study vary from location to location. Several locations—Thailand, Korea, Finland, Sweden and the Netherlands, for example—do not require a background in the host language and offer classes in English.
Areas of Study: Areas of study differ from university to university, yet most locations offer general undergraduate classes such as language studies, history, economics, literature and science. A field of study index on the ISEP website can help you locate suitable sites for the subjects you wish to study. You can choose to study in English or a foreign language, although language proficiency requirements vary by site.
Activities: In this full immersion program, you can get involved in various university-based activities. The types of activities vary at each university, however many sites have a mix of athletic and social opportunities.
Accommodations: ISEP will arrange your housing or a stipend to cover the cost of your housing for the entire period of the exchange, including examination and vacation periods. Typically a student on the ISEP program lives in a residence hall, in a shared apartment with other students or with a host family. ISEP will arrange for you to receive a minimum of 19 meals per week in the form of a meal plan, cash stipend or payment to a host family.
Academic Calendar: Term lengths depend upon the host institution. You can study for a full academic year, a semester or a single term.
Eligibility: 3.0 GPA
Language of Instruction: Programs are in a variety of languages based on location, including Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.

ISEP is the world’s largest network of post-secondary institutions cooperating to provide affordable international educational experiences for a diverse student population.
ISEP has 260 members throughout the United States and 35 other countries. More than 24,000 students have participated in the ISEP program.
ISEP members are institutions of higher education that are regionally accredited (U.S. institutions) or recognized by their government or ministry of education (non-U.S. institutions).
Except for language and civilization courses designed for international students as some universities, the courses that ISEP participants take are the same as those attended by local students.
The DU deadline for ISEP applications is January 15; Carol Fairweather, Director of Study Abroad, is the advisor for ISEP applicants.
