Major: Finance and Marketing

I choose my program at Beijing Foreign Studies University because my main reason for studying in China was to learn standard Mandarin. Beijing was a great place to do this because of its rich cultural heritage and standard Mandarin dialect. My program had a language intensive component which was great for learning Chinese in the classroom and applying it through cultural immersion. Part of my cultural immersion was an incredible host family who truly helped me understand Chinese culture and language.

Despite my experience being more academic than some of my friends' abroad experiences, I still had an amazing time and made friendships that have lasted far beyond my time in Beijing.
