In Beijing, I held a unique internship. I worked for a small manufacturing company based out of their apartment. It was amazing how the employees were brought in as a part of the family. Twice a week, or sometimes more, I would make the hour and a half commute to their apartment/office to work with them on strategic planning for their company.

I was in charge of developing the business plan for a sister advertising company that was to put the video cubes and plasma screen TV's that our company manufactured into the major Chinese airports. Then the sister company would sell advertising space on the screen (in the airports) and we would then be able to promote national advertising campaigns.

I was very glad for this experience, as their family gave me an outlet for questions which my classmates and professors could not answer. I was so much a member of their family that I was one of the first to know that the couple was expecting a child. This experience really let me drop some roots in Beijing and connect on another level with the people.
