I grew up in Boulder, CO and went to school at Wheaton College near Chicago, IL. During college I spent one summer studying abroad in Mexico City where I grew to love the people and the Spanish language. After college I joined the U.S. Air Force as a C-130 navigator where I spent seven years flying around the world and meeting people from many different countries.
Both my time in Mexico and my experiences while I was in the Air Force convinced me that I wanted to work with international students and people from other countries in a more permanent way. So, after I got out of the Air Force in 2008 I moved to Monterey, CA to earn my Master’s Degree in TESOL. I have taught a variety of student populations from recently arrived adult immigrants, to international students who came to the U.S. for programs less than two months long. I enjoy hearing their stories and having a chance to help them learn the confusing language of English.
I joined the ELC staff in 2011 and I am very happy to be back in Colorado. When I am not teaching I love doing outdoor activities such as snowboarding, hiking, and running or relaxing with a good book and some great music.
