Academics and Applications
Classes at the ELC
The ELC offers six levels of intensive academic ESL classes as well as a Graduate Preparation Program (GPP). In each level, students take classes including reading, composition, listening/speaking/pronunciation, and grammar. For a full description of each level and the classes, see our Curriculum Page.
The ELC has three 10-week quarters, Fall, Winter, and Spring, each year. Summer quarter is 9 weeks long. The ELC follows the schedule of the University of Denver. For more details, see our Academic Calendar.
Applying to the ELC
The ELC accepts applications throughout the year. A completed application packet includes:
- A completed application form
- A $110 application fee
- A copy of the passport namepage
- An ORIGINAL letter of financial guarantee
After the ELC receives these four documents, we can process the application within one week. After a student has applied and been accepted to the ELC, we will express mail an I-20 (certificate of eligibility for students). The I-20 is the document students need to apply for a student visa. Please submit your complete application with all requirements as soon as possible as space is limited for all quarters. Until you have submitted all application items and received an e-mail confirmation from the ELC, there is no guarantee that there is space available. ELC quarters fill quickly, and there is no waiting list. For more details on the application documents and process, contact us.
