I grew up in northern Minnesota doing all the typical activities: canoeing, camping, fishing, and ice hockey. Despite my love of the northwoods, I went to college in Massachusetts to see what life was like in a different region. After graduation I worked as a research psychologist in the D.C. area until a trip to Siberia inspired me to join the Peace Corps. I spent just over two years as a TEFL volunteer in Turkmenistan, where I fell in love with doing international and intercultural work. Upon returning to the U.S. I was part of the inaugural cohort of Public Allies Twin Cities (an Americorps program), for which I worked as a college counselor and teacher at an ESL charter high school for immigrant students. I am very excited to be working at the ELC and I really enjoy meeting all of the students.
