GPP Activities
The Graduate Preparation Program is offered for
students who have been conditionally or fully accepted into their
graduate programs at the University of Denver or any other U.S.
university. Students fully admitted to their program will be placed
directly into GPP. Conditionally accepted students will be tested
and placed into the appropriate (level 1 through GPP). To be fully
accepted at the University, the students must successfully complete
GPP.
To receive an English Conditional Acceptance (ECA)
into some graduate programs, students must meet the department's
admission requirements, excluding the TOEFL requirement. Please
contact your department to see if you can join the ECA program.
The program is a four-hour-a-day (five-days-a-week)
intensive program. The Speaking Workshop meets to offer work on
oral/aural skills, and the Writing Workshop provides instruction
and practice in writing. The purpose of the Graduate Preparation
Program is to provide students with opportunities to improve, build
confidence in and fine-tune their English speaking, listening and
writing skills. In addition, the workshops aim to help students
become more familiar with expectations of U.S. graduate school classes
and professors. Students work on the types of language skills and
activities considered essential for success in a variety of graduate
programs. Students' language skills are assessed and the workshops
provide guidance, instruction, activities, and assignments to correct
deficiencies of the collective group and of the individuals.
The Graduate Preparation Program is now offered every quarter.
Please email the
ELC, if you have questions
about this program.
