I was born and raised in
Denver, but I have lived in many other American cities and two foreign
countries. After completing my undergraduate work in education at
the University of Colorado, I went to Sierra Leone, West Africa
to live for two years. There I taught English and held workshops
to train teachers in the southern part of the country. Following
this experience, I taught in the public schools and completed a
Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from Brigham
Young University.
Since graduating I have developed several ESL programs for children,
worked as an English consultant for a Japanese company, and taught
in two other English language programs. In the mid-nineties my family
and I moved to Panama, and there I studied Spanish. I enjoy teaching
at the English Language Center at the University of Denver because
I work with a very qualified and professional staff, and I am fortunate
to meet interesting and intelligent students from all over the world.
