I first became interested in ESL during my undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa where I was a Communication Studies and French Language and Literature student. During my sophomore year, I started looking for a "Communications Internship" in Hawai'i because I had some family there and needed some further direction on my career path. I landed upon a Teacher Assistant position with an ESL school in Honolulu and had the best three months of my life. After I completed my B.A. in Communication Studies and French in Iowa City, I moved back to Hawai'i to complete my M.A. in Teaching ESL from Hawai'i Pacific University. I love to travel and to learn the languages and norms of different cultures. My international travels include spending five months studying French language, literature, history, and cinema at l'Universite Paul Valery in Montpellier, France, and then returning to Europe a couple years later to spend time with my German family in Meunster and Stuttgart. I also took a year off from teaching to be a bilingual customer service associate for a trade show planning company which brought me to many sites throughout the country and to a French-Canadian show in Laval, Quebec. Through my teaching positions in Honolulu, Chicago, and Denver, I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to teach students from every corner of the world. I am so happy to be with the Faculty and Staff at the ELC at the University of Denver doing what I love.
