Hi and welcome to our website! I have
been teaching ESL for more than 30 years, and I still love my work.
In 1977 I began teaching at the ELC. In the years since then, I
have taught many classes here, but I have also taught in other countries
and at other universities in the Denver area. I am very happy to
be back “home” as the Director of the ELC!
I've always enjoyed teaching and traveling in other countries. My
first experience in another country was in Romania, where I taught
at a university in 1978-79. I was fortunate enough to be able to
travel to other nearby countries such as Hungary and Yugoslavia.
In 1983-84 I taught in northern China. My husband and I traveled
to other parts of the country and to Hong Kong for vacation. The
last country I taught in was Malaysia, where I lived for two years
(1989-91). The climate there is so different from ours in Denver!
While we lived Malaysia, we visited Bali in Indonesia and Thailand.
I've also spent time in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and western Europe.
The international students I've taught in the U.S. have introduced
me to the cultures of many other countries. I feel so lucky to have
a job working with such interesting people!
I hope you will think about joining us in Denver and at the ELC.
Colorado is a beautiful state full of places to ski, snowboard,
hike, bike and simply view the mountain scenery. The ELC is a great
place to learn English in small classes with fascinating classmates
from all over the world. See you soon!
