Hi!  I grew up in Minnesota.  I love the Midwest and stayed there until I finished college.  However, I was ready to experience something new when I graduated.  I wanted to travel and took a job teaching English in Thailand in order to be able to afford living abroad for a year.  This was the best decision I have ever made.  I fell in love with teaching and with Thailand.  Additionally, I became very interested in the process of acculturation, or how people adapt to a different culture and how living in a foreign culture changes people.  I returned to the US to learn more about teaching English in graduate school, where acculturation was something I chose to focus on.  I travelled to Gaziantep, Turkey with my new M.A. and taught English for one year before I started teaching here at the ELC.  I love working with DU's ELC students and hope to meet you soon!
