I
developed many fantastic relationships with the people in Dharamsala,
and feel as though I have learned a lot about myself and gained
yet another world view. I have a better understanding of how the
world truly is, and have increased my passion for travel and new
experiences that much more. -

Seeing
the eagerness and excitement of the children living in the Beggar’s
Village was so overwhelmingly powerful. It was eye opening to see
that these people who are often regarded so poorly are people just
like anyone else and have a face.

The
Indian school where I taught was an amazing place that will stay
with me forever! Experiencing Tibetan dance and song at the Dalai
Lama's 15th anniversary for winning the Nobel Peace Prize was enlightening
and such an incredibly fun experience! The tour of the Tibetan Reception
Center in Dharamsala was moving and gave true insight into the struggle
and perseverance of the Tibetan people.

This
experience has given me a personal experience from which to base
my understandings of the larger topics of poverty and development.

I
feel like I had tremendous personal growth and learned about the
Tibetan culture through the exposure that we had to the Tibetan
people.-

I
felt as if we saw and did and learned enough to fill a lifetime
twice over. I shall never be the same, nor do I ever wish to be.

The
people I met in Dharamsala live in my every thought and their wisdom
comes out in my every interaction. Constant consciousness is one
of the greatest developments I have acquired.

By
working with another culture during my placement I learned to listen,
what it means to have strength and courage, the value of simplicity,
generosity, to reflect, explore, challenge.

I
have been changed by what I know. Project Dharamsala emphasized
that it is not possible to simplify an issue to black and white,
even gray is difficult to capture the colorful struggles entangled
in culture, independence, opinions, perspectives, growth, and possible
solutions.
