Overview

Orientation Every term, ISSS presents an orientation for new DU international students. The orientation covers areas of immigration, ISSS and other University services, and the topic of living in the U.S. Orientation is required for all new international students on F-1 and J-1 status.
- International House Luncheon Events Program - The monthly luncheon program at the International House provides students, faculty and staff an opportunity to attend an internationally focused program, visit with friends and colleagues, and enjoy a complementary lunch.
- Film and Culture Series - On a monthly basis, ISSS offers an evening of film and culture. Just before the presentation, a person familiar with the respective culture will introduce the internationally acclaimed film. A cultural discussion, frequently based on a particular theme, will follow the film. International food and drink will be served.
- Spouses Club Activities The spouses club provides spouses of international students an opportunity to interact socially and learn more about the American culture. This club also sponsors activities for the children of international students.

Office of Internationalization Annual Reception The largest Office of Internationalization event of the year, the Annual Reception brings together international, study abroad and service-learning students with faculty, staff and community members interested in international issues. The evening provides a chance to socialize and network as well as honor some members of our DU and greater community.
- Halloween Party Every Halloween night, the I-House and a local DU sorority co-host a great party for international students and their families, and children in the community. Come have fun and learn more about this popular American holiday.
- Career Planning and H-1B/PR Workshop - The
career planning workshop will provide you with career planning tips
and strategies for attaining a great job. The H-1B/PR workshop
will present you with both the regulations
and procedures associated with the H-1B visa process and permanent residency based on employment.
- Travel Clinic Twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring, ISSS presents travel clinics to help prepare students for travel abroad. The clinic offers immediate travel signatures and an opportunity to ask questions on topics such as valid travel documents, U.S. visa renewal and revalidation, and foreign visas.
- International Student Essay Contest (www.du.edu/itnl/isss/essays) The International Student Essay Contest gives international students an opportunity to write about their diverse and personal experiences in the U.S., and share those stories with the University of Denver and surrounding community, with the possibility of being published.
- Tax Workshops (VITA PROGRAM) In the early winter, Beta Alpha Psi (a DU accounting society), the School of Accountancy, the IRS, and ISSS team up to offer international students tax preparation and filing assistance, including tax treaty determinations and scholarship reporting. Watch for more detailed announcements in early winter quarter Globe e-newsletters on how to set up a VITA appointment.
- Colorado Consular Corps Reception (for
graduate international students) - Offered during the spring
quarter, this event gives an opportunity to graduate international
students to meet and interact with members of the Colorado
Consular Corps community.
- Festival of Nations (http://www.du.edu/intl/fon/) - The
largest DU student run event of the year takes place every
April. This grand event brings together international and ethnic
groups from DU and all over Colorado for a day of cultural
showcase and festivities.

Graduation Reception - At
the end of the year, ISSS hosts a graduation reception for
graduating international students and their family and friends.
Graduating international students please join us to celebrate
your accomplishments with hors d’oeuvres, music and an
international ambiance.
