Community Scholars Awards & Grants are designed to assist Living and Learning Community, University Honors students, and Puksta scholars pursuing meaningful research, service learning, or professional development opportunities which do not fit into categories funded by existing university bodies. These competitive awards & grants provide unique opportunities for students to expand and deepen their undergraduate learning experiences in new and different ways.
A key goal of the mission of the University of Denver is to "develop
global perspectives and connections by substantially expanding student
and faculty experiences abroad." We believe that the growing importance
of cross-cultural understanding, along with new global events and interdependencies,
challenge us to diversify and internationalize our curriculum.
Higher education today is in part about preparing citizens with a genuine empathy
for and appreciation of other cultures, along with a deeper and more nuanced
understanding of their own.
To help fulfill this goal of our mission the University of Denver and the Study
Abroad Office introduced the Cherrington Global Scholars Program to study at
one of 150+ DU Programs. This is an exciting new opportunity for students
and a dramatic statement of the University of Denver's commitment to
internationalizing undergraduate education.
