The Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA), requires postsecondary institutions to make key institutional data available to current and prospective students, faculty and staff.
Consumer disclosure information includes:

- disability services
- enrollment
- facilities
- faculty
- financial aid
- health and safety
- institutional policies
- persistence and graduation rates
- post-graduation education
- post-graduation employment
- state authorization
- textbooks
- voter registration
