Peer Analysis

The Office of Institutional Research and Analysis prepares peer analysis reports for the University. We obtain most data on peer institutions from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).  The IPEDS Data Center tool is available to the public to perform similar comparisons with many institutional variables.

Peer Comparison Group

We use data on the following institutions for peer analysis:

  • Boston University
  • Colorado College
  • George Washington University
  • Regis University
  • Santa Clara University
  • Southern Methodist University
  • Syracuse University
  • University of Miami
  • University of Puget Sound
  • University of San Diego
  • University of Southern California

IPEDS Peer Analysis Reports

The 2011 IPEDS Data Feedback Report compares DU to our peer comparison group on the following measures:

  • Race, ethnicity, and gender
  • 12-month headcount enrollment and total FTE enrollment
  • Degrees granted
  • Tuition and fees
  • Average net price of attendance
  • Percent of undergraduates who received financial aid, by type of aid
  • Average aid per full-time, first-time undergraduate student
  • Graduation and transfer-out rates
  • FTE staff, by assigned position
  • Average staff salaries
  • Revenue type as a percent of core revenues
  • Core expense per student FTE

The 2010 IPEDS Admissions Peer Analysis Report provides the following data for DU and individual comparison institutions:

  • Admission data (percent admitted, yield percentage, SAT, and ACT)
  • Race, ethnicity, and gender
  • Enrollment
  • Persistence
  • Graduation rates
  • Tuition and fees
  • Average amount of undergraduate aid received as a percentage of tuition and fees
  • Endowment per student FTE

The 2010 IPEDS Financial Peer Analysis Report provides the following data for DU and individual comparison institutions:

  • Enrollment
  • Degrees granted
  • Tuition and fees
  • Average aid per full-time, first-time undergraduate student
  • Revenue type as a percent of core revenues
  • Endowment per student FTE
  • Core expense per student FTE
  • FTE employees
  • Average faculty salaries
