Preparing for Your Arrival

Transportation and Accommodation

Getting to DU from the Airport

There are several ways to reach the University of Denver from the Denver International Airport. Due to liability issues, International Student and Scholar Services is unable to provide airport pick-up services for new students at this time.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) opened a light rail line from Downtown Denver to Denver International Airport (DIA) in April 2016. See more information about this great option here

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) also offers public buses to and from Denver International Airport. At least one bus or light rail connection is required, so allow a minimum of two hours to arrive on campus. One-way SkyRide fare costs $9 - $13, depending on your final destination. The price of the connecting bus or light rail ticket is typically $2.25. Tickets must be purchased using exact cash though credit cards are accepted at light rail stations. To plan your route, visit the RTD SkyRide website.

Uber and Lyft

Uber and Lyft are two services that act like Taxis but usually cost less. You can request rides directly from your smart phone when you download the app.

Airport Shuttle

A number of different shuttle services provide ground transportation from Denver International Airport to the University of Denver. A shuttle ticket generally costs $25 - $35, although lower group rates may be available if you are traveling with a number of people. Please visit the Denver International Airport's list of commuter shuttles for options.

Super Shuttle gives DU faculty, staff and students a $3 per person discount for transportation to or from Denver International Airport. Discount Code DU001

DU Student Organizations Airport Pick-Up

Some student organizations volunteer to pick students up at the airport as a service to their community. For a complete list of international student groups at DU and their contact information, please visit our Student Groups page.

Hotel Shuttle

If you are staying at a hotel, contact your guest services representative to ask if a courtesy shuttle is available. Many hotels provide scheduled shuttle pick-up from the airport upon request. Hotel shuttles generally do not run after 10:00 pm, so you should verify that one will be available to pick you up if your flight arrives late at night.

Taxi

Taxis provide the most direct transportation to campus and are generally available at any time of the day, but one-way fare costs a minimum of $50, plus gratuity. However, if you are traveling with a number of people, taxis may be more cost-efficient since you can divide the fare among you. Taxis can be hailed in the ground transportation area outside the airport exit. For more information about taxi services available at Denver International Airport, visit flydenver.com.

Accommodation

You should arrange for temporary or permanent housing before arriving in Denver if possible. The University of Denver offers a variety of on-campus housing options for undergraduate students. For information about on and off campus housing options for students, please visit the Housing section of our website.

Motels and Hotels

If you do not have permanent housing arranged when you arrive in Denver, you may need to stay in a motel or hotel for several days. The university does not currently offer short-term housing for students. The motels and hotels below are a sampling of those located near DU. A list of hotels that offer special rates for the DU community can be found here.
