The Public Diplomacy Speaker Series presents a conversation with Ambassador Kathleen Stephens. Ambassador Stephens spent 35 years as a career diplomat in the US Foreign Service. Ambassador Stephens is currently serving as the 2013-2014 Koret Fellow at Stanford University's Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center. Most recently, she served as the Acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in 2012, and was U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea from 2008 to 2011. She has also served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
