The MA in International Studies combines an interdisciplinary core with an in-depth study of a disciplinary field and a substantive concentration. In addition to their topical studies, students obtain a broad exposure to the intellectual fields of international studies and the theoretical traditions scholars have used to study our complex world. The program is favored by those pursuing careers in diplomacy, public service, academia and the private sector, as well as those interested in pursuing a PhD. The MA in International Studies is our most flexible degree, with myriad opportunities to tailor a program to fit special needs, interests and professional goals. Graduates work in public, private and nonprofit sectors, working in the United States and abroad in careers with organizations such as the Department of State, Department of Energy, United States Agency for International Development, World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, Red Cross and Human Rights Watch.
