Originally from South Korea, I grew up in Yangon, Myanmar for 12 years and Khartoum, Sudan for 4 years before I moved to Raleigh, NC my junior year of high school. I quickly learned that y'all was the only proper noun, tea was always served sweet and macaroni and cheese was a vegetable in the South. One of the best decisions I've ever made was to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I studied Peace, War and Defense. My experience at Carolina was one of a kind and Tarheel basketball is near and dear to my heart.
However, given my past, I could not pass the opportunity to travel somewhere new: the west. Aside from attending college 30 minutes away from home, I was already familiar with east coast schools. Instead, I was attracted to the Josef Korbel School's diverse student population as well as its notable alumni. Staff and faculty are not only available but accessible and the learning environment is challenging yet welcoming. Also, the city of Denver has so much to offer without the high-stress city attributes. I am truly enjoying my time here and I hope you have the opportunity to experience it too!
