Welcome to Colorado

GRE and TOEFL requirements for international students

  • All international students applying to the MA or PhD programs are required to submit GRE scores.
  • International students, whose native language is not English and the university whereby the BA and/or MA was not instructed in English are required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score.

Minimum TOEFL scores are as follows:

Internet-based score: 95

Computer-based score: 240

Paper-based score: 587

Minimum IELTS score: 7.0

Special scholarships for international students

At the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, we value the diversity that our international students bring to our classrooms and community. We understand the financial commitment required of international students who enroll at the Josef Korbel School. For this reason, all international students are automatically considered for both merit-based scholarships and international student scholarships at the time applications are reviewed.

DU makes your transition to our campus and life in Colorado easy with orientation services that include immigration advice, work authorization assistance, international programs and events, and more. Please contact the DU Office of Internationalization for help getting acquainted with your new home.
