Human Rights Organizations

Amnesty International
Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights. AI’s vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.

Human Rights Watch
Human Rights Watch is the largest human rights organization based in the United States. Human Rights Watch researchers conduct fact-finding investigations into human rights abuses in all regions of the world.

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is mandated to promote and protect the enjoyment and full realization, by all people, of all rights established in the Charter of the United Nations and in international human rights laws and treaties. The mandate includes preventing human rights violations, securing respect for all human rights, promoting international cooperation to protect human rights, coordinating related activities throughout the United Nations, and strengthening and streamlining the United Nations system in the field of human rights.

Human Trafficking and Forced Labor

Angel Coalition
The Angel Coalition is the first registered association of women's organizations in the Russian Federation , and the only non-governmental organization in the country whose full-time staff and mission focuses solely on the issue of trafficking.

Anti-Slavery International
Anti-Slavery International, founded in 1839, is the world's oldest international human rights organisation and the only charity in the United Kingdom to work exclusively against slavery and related abuses. The organization focuses on the rights of vulnerable groups, including women, children, migrant workers, and indigenous peoples.

Campus Coalition against Trafficking (CCAT)
Campus Coalition Against Trafficking members are fighting on the frontlines of the anti-trafficking movement! CCAT raises awareness, advocate for strong federal and state anti-trafficking legislation, fundraise, and build the movement to stop modern-day slavery. CCAT also works to build the anti-trafficking movement by recruiting more CCAT members and supporters and collaborating with the Not For Sale Campaign, Slavery Still Exists, Red Light Children, Free the Slaves, The Thailand Project, and Anti-Trafficking International.

Free the Slaves
Free the Slaves, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., is dedicated to ending slavery worldwide. The organization believes that ending slavery worldwide is an ambitious–and realizable–goal that requires a solid commitment to specific guiding principles as well as multiple, holistic approaches. Its approach involves working with local partner organizations, raising awareness, promoting slave-free trade, educating policy makers, and research.

International Labour Organization
Forced Labour

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is devoted to advancing opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity. Its main aims are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue in handling work-related issues.

International Organization for Migration
Established in 1951, International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.

Polaris Project
Polaris Project is a leading international organization combating human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Based in the United States and Japan, it brings together community members, survivors, and professionals to fight trafficking and slavery in the spirit of a modern-day Underground Railroad.

Rugmark Foundation
In September 1994, the RugMark Foundation was formally established by a coalition of nongovernmental organizations, businesses, government entities, and multilateral groups like UNICEF. The first carpets bearing the RugMark label were exported from India at the beginning of 1995, mainly to Germany. Over the next four years, RugMark expanded its certification and rehabilitation activities to Nepal and Pakistan.

Swiss Foundation of Terre des hommes

The Swiss Foundation of Terre des hommes (Tdh) with headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, is the largest Swiss children’s aid organization operating outside Switzerland. Since 1960, the movement has been active wherever children are in need. As part of its anti-trafficking program, the foundation has compiled a database of documents related to child trafficking around the world.

UNICEF Child Trafficking Research Hub
Child Trafficking Research Hub is dedicated to data collection, knowledge transfer and the development of methodologies related to research on child trafficking. It is intended for international researchers, policy-makers and operational personnel involved in counter child trafficking activities.

U.S. Department of State
Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons

The Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (G/TIP) provides the tools to combat trafficking in persons and assists in the coordination of anti-trafficking efforts both worldwide and domestically. Its 2007 Trafficking in Persons Report on over 150 countries is the most comprehensive worldwide report on the efforts of governments to combat severe forms of trafficking in persons. Its findings will raise global awareness and spur countries to take effective actions to counter trafficking in persons.
