AfricaAfrican Initiatives ResourcesAfrican Initiatives is a project of the University of Denver's Josef Korbel School of International Studies born out of an effort to establish a strong regional emphasis for students interested in African issues. Director Peter Van Arsdale, in conjunction with Korbel's Students for Africa, set the program in motion, and made possible the realization of a dynamic infrastructure that connects students to organizations, in Denver and points beyond, that are performing the important work that will bolster Africa's positive growth. The idea is that the relationships between African Initiatives and its partner organizations are permanent and ever-evolving as they develop and present unique and substantive opportunities for students to mesh their studies with community work. Internships, volunteer opportunities, and research projects are presented through this website, Korbel's Office of Career and Professional Development, a physical display, and listserv outlets, creating an integrated system to raise the profile of our partner organizations within the Korbel network and satisfy the student need for easy access to humanitarian work. In addition, African Initiatives is committed to working with Students for Africa and other Korbel outreach centers to produce networking and presentation events to enrich connections among students and the leaders of organizations. Below are listed African Initiatives' partner organizations.
