Jimmie Dean Braley is a MA candidate in international human rights at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver.
Prior to starting graduate studies, Jimmie worked as an outreach and volunteer coordination expert at the Littleton Immigrant Resources Center in Littleton, Colorado. He spent two years assisting immigrants and refugees to obtain a wide range of community services and support while facilitating a matching process between volunteers and students interested in pursuing English education and citizenship. Jimmie spent another year working as a treatment counselor with abused and neglected youth in Denver, an experience that helped to inform his interest in pursuing an education in human rights and humanitarian assistance. He hopes to put his experiences and knowledge to work in emergency disaster relief and logistical management.
Jimmie graduated with honors from Metropolitan State University in 2010 with a BA in political science. While at MSU Denver, Jimmie was chairman of the Student Conferencing Board, the Honors Outdoor Club and the Honors Student Advisory Committee. He helped to coordinate several volunteer initiatives within the university's honors program and was a finalist for the 2009 National Collegiate Honors Council's Student of the Year at the 44th annual NCHC conference in Washington, DC.
