Sarah May

Humanitarian Assistance Student Sarah MaySarah May is a MA candidate in international development with a certificate in Humanitarian Assistance at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. Her main areas of interest include girls' education and teacher training in emergency settings.

Prior to coming to the Josef Korbel School, Sarah taught at both the primary and secondary levels as a Teach for America corps member in Tulsa, OK. During this time, she also piloted Tulsa's first English language development summer school program. In addition, Sarah has led teacher-training professional development for Teach for America and taught English as a second language at the University of Oklahoma. Internationally, Sarah has worked on education development projects in San Jose, Costa Rica and Bujumbura Rural, Burundi. Currently, Sarah interns for the International Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) as a communications and knowledge management intern.

Sarah graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2009 with a BA in anthropology. After graduation, Sarah hopes to work in a position that allows her to use her academic and professional experiences to contribute to the field of emergency education.
