International students

The University of Denver is one of the most diverse universities in the United States, with students from over 80 countries in attendance. The Josef Korbel School has over 30 countries represented, ranging from our northern neighbors in Canada, to recently-independent Kosovo, to places as far flung as Mauritania and Indonesia. At the Josef Korbel School, we welcome international students and believe that a diverse student body makes our school stronger. The sharing of stories, ideas and views between students carries education beyond the classroom and creates a vibrant learning environment; international students play a crucial role in this.

Colorado, as a whole, is welcoming to international guests and residents, and the University of Denver is proud to follow in this tradition. The very active International Student Organization provides support and hosts events for the international student body. These events not only help the international students adjust to their new community, but also help U.S. students learn about the various cultures persent on campus in a casual setting outside the classroom. The Josef Korbel School facilitates inclusion of international students by pairing incoming international students with a second-year student for advice and insight. The Korbel Graduate Student Association, the student government body of the Korbel School, even has an elected position to ensure international students have their voices heard in campus government.

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services provides services and help for all international students, from special events during orientation to year-round support and even post-graduate assistance. Their goal is to support the international community at the University of Denver so each student can make the most of their experience in Denver. In addition to helping international students transition to life in the United States, they also help to raise awareness among students at the University of Denver regarding the valuable role international students play as part of the student body. From social activities to advising to legal aid, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services ensures that the international community receives all the help and care it needs.

I was really excited about hearing about the program. The fact that you can choose your classes, that is not something you can do in Guatemala.
