Professor Suisheng (Sam) Zhao, Executive Director of the Center for China-U.S. Cooperation, joined a number of
his colleagues and met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his newly elected cabinet
on July 16. The meeting included the introduction to the newly elected head of the
Tibetan government in exile, Lobsang Sangay. This meeting was of special important
due to the Dalai Lama’s previous announcement that he will focus his sole attention
on spiritual leadership and relinquish his role as political leader. Professor Zhao
and a few of his colleagues have been meeting with His Holiness and his China Task
Force regularly to exchange views on mutually interested issues.
