Chinese Scholars to study at the Josef Korbel School for International Studies as part of the agreement
DENVER – Denver is becoming a global city—this can especially be seen on the University of Denver campus. As part of a new partnership created to increase international collaboration, a delegation from China's Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) will be on the University of Denver campus to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University's Josef Korbel School of International Studies on Friday, January 18, 2013.
The MOU creates a new cooperative alliance between the two schools that allows select BFSU students to enroll in a graduate degree program at the Josef Korbel School while also completing their studies at BFSU in Beijing. The students in this program will be referred to as China Center Scholars.
BFSU is one of the top international studies universities in China. It has produced more than one hundred Chinese ambassadors and senior Chinese government officials, as well as international business and legal leaders.
"We are very excited about this opportunity to partner with BFSU," said Christopher Hill, dean of the Josef Korbel School. "The Josef Korbel School welcomes international students from across the globe and the new China Center Scholars will add to our dynamic, intellectually rigorous, and multicultural environment."
This partnership also benefits the community outside of DU. Aside from further connecting Denver with the global community, international students make significant cultural and economic contributions to local communities each academic year. According to the Association of International Educators, international students enrich communities with diverse perspectives and contribute significantly to local economies.
