On Friday, January 18, 2013, a delegation from Beijing Foreign Studies University,
one of the top international studies universities in China, visited the University
of Denver to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University's Josef
Korbel School of International Studies.
The MOU creates a new cooperative alliance between the two schools that allows select BFSU students to enroll in a graduate degree program at the Josef Korbel School while also completing their studies at BFSU in Beijing. The students in this program will be referred to as China Center Scholars.
As a leading school of international studies in China, BFSU has produced more than one hundred Chinese ambassadors and senior Chinese government officials, as well as international business and legal leaders.
"We are very excited about this opportunity to partner with BFSU," said Christopher Hill, dean of the Josef Korbel School. "The Josef Korbel School welcomes international students from across the globe and the new China Center Scholars will add to our dynamic, intellectually rigorous, and multicultural environment."
While at the University of Denver, the delegation from BFSU enjoyed the hospitality of the DU community. Their visit included a campus tour and lunch with faculty and staff at the Josef Korbel School. Additionally, the delegation met with DU's Chancellor Robert Coombe and ended the day with a signing ceremony, where BFSU Vice President Jin Li and DU Provost Gregg Kvistad officially signed the MOU.
