Support our Students
Korbel School Internship FundThis fund provides support with travel, housing, and incidental costs for our students taking unpaid internships that are an essential part of the curriculum at Korbel.
This fund will support the efforts of the newly created Institute for Comparative and Regional Studies (ICRS), which conducts research, facilitates dialogue, and provides advanced instruction in comparative and regional studies to address the pressing global challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. ICRS was conceived in early 2020 through the support of donor John DeBlasio, encapsulating and streamlining the work of four former Korbel Centers and Initiatives: African Initiatives, The Europe Center, The Latin America Center, and the Center for Middle East Studies.
The Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures was established in 2007 through the support of Fred Pardee. Their work is dedicated to building data, developing tools, and conducting policy-relevant analysis on the future of global human, environmental, and social development. Their mission is to explore, understand and shape alternative futures of global change and human development, and in this pursuit have built the International Futures (IF) model, the most sophisticated and comprehensive forecasting modeling system available to the public.
This fund supports the operations of and students in the Scrivner Institute for Public Policy, which was established in 2018 by Doug and Mary Scrivner. The Scrivner Institute works at the intersection of real-world problems and practical policy solutions to those problems. It is by its nature interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary, bridging knowledge between academic disciplines and today's most crucial issues.
This fund will support the ongoing efforts and work of the Sié Chéou-Kang Center at Korbel. The Sié Center was established in 2009 by an endowment from The Anna and John J. Sie Foundation in honor of John’s father, Ambassador Sié Chéou-Kang. Its work advances knowledge and practice in global peace, prosperity, and security through innovative research, interdisciplinary education, and thoughtful engagement with others who strive for a more just, prosperous, and peaceful world.
This fund support the Korbel School’s newest initiative: Global Environmental Sustainability (and our newest MA program of the same name). The changing climate, natural resource depletion, and increased demands on our food, water, and energy resources are defining challenges of the 21st century. Confronting these challenges will require informed policy, international cooperation, and inspired leadership if we are to put the planet on a more sustainable path and deliver on our obligations to future generations.
