Lamont Application

Lamont School of Music
applicants must:
- Apply
to the University of Denver Office of Admission
Applicants
should apply on-line at www.du.edu/admission
. DU uses the Common Application exclusively
. If application assistance is needed contact DU Office of Admission
at 1-800-525-9495 or 303-871-2036.
Early
Action deadline:
Applicants
may apply through the Early Action Program. The application deadline
for Early Action is November 1, 2007. Music majors must also audition
for acceptance into the Lamont School of Music. Early Action applicants
should plan to audition on November 10, 2007. Early action applicants
receive admission notification in mid-January.
Regular
Decision deadline:
The
regular application deadline is January 15, 2008. Applications received
after January 15 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Music majors
must also audition for acceptance into the Lamont School of Music. Regular
application audition dates are February 2, 9, and 23, 2008. Regular
admission applicants receive admission notification in mid-March.
Transfer
and Graduate applicants:
There
are no formal application deadlines for transfer and graduate students.
However, to be eligible for scholarship consideration, transfer and
graduate students should apply and audition by March 1, 2008.

http://www.du.edu/grad/appinfo/info.html. Please return the enclosed one page Lamont application to Lamont
Admissions at the address below.
Students
applying for admission to the Lamont School of Music must perform an
audition for faculty prior to acceptance to the music school and the
University of Denver . Students may audition for acceptance to Lamont
before the application process to the University of Denver is complete,
but only students whose applications have been approved by the University
and the music school will be admitted.

requirements are included in this packet. Call Lamont Admissions to

Auditions
will be held at the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing
Arts,
2344
E. Iliff Ave. , Denver
, Colorado 80208 .
These
dates do not apply to conducting applicants. Please contact Lamont Admissions
for details.
Those
who cannot attend Lamont auditions may audition by videotape (preferred),
CD or DVD. All auditions, including recorded auditions, must
be completed and/or submitted by the final audition date .
Send the recording, along with your completed Lamont application and
a brief personal essay, to Lamont Admissions at the address below.
Music
Minors do not audition before acceptance to the University of Denver
. Music Minors must audition after beginning studies at the university,
at the time they wish to begin a minor in music.

Application
Checklists
First-Year Applicants
- Submit a completed Application for Undergraduate
Admission including the essay.
- Pay a $50 non-refundable application fee
(check, money order or on-line payments accepted).
- Submit a school counselor recommendation/report.
- Submit a teacher recommendation.
- Submit an official secondary school transcript
or official verification of the High School Equivalency Diploma (GED
).
- Send the
official results of the SAT (DU code is 4842) and/or ACT (DU code is
0534). The writing components for both the SAT and ACT will be accepted
for review but will not be used for admission decisions.
- Strongly suggested: register for and complete your Hyde
Interview
- Music Majors - Music Audition is required.

Transfer Applicants
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate
Admission including essay.
- Pay the $50 nonrefundable application fee--check,
money order or online payment only.
- Submit official transcripts from all college-level
study attempted at previous and/or current institutions.
- OPTIONAL: Submit a teacher, professor or
advisor recommendation.
- IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED LESS THAN ONE YEAR
OF COLLEGE STUDY (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours), YOU MUST ALSO
SUBMIT:
1. an official secondary school transcript
2. official results of the SAT and/or ACT
- Strongly suggested: register for and complete your Hyde
Interview
- Music Majors - Transfer students
majoring in music must submit an "Eligibility Form for Transfer Students"
if currently enrolled at a school belonging to the National Association
of Schools of Music. This form must be on file with Lamont before you
can be considered for financial assistance or scholarships. Contact
the music school for this form (303-871-6973).
Adult and Adult-Transfer
Students
(An adult applicant is an individual
who has been out of high school three years or longer with NO previous
college-level study. An adult-transfer applicant is a student 24 years
of age or older who has completed some college-level study at another
institution.)
- Submit a completed Application for Undergraduate
Admission including essay.
- Pay the $50 nonrefundable application fee--check,
money order or online payment only.
- OPTIONAL: Submit a letter of recommendation
from a teacher or employer.
- Adult students must provide an official
secondary school transcript OR official verification of the High School
Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Adult transfer students must submit official
transcripts of all college-level study completed at previous and/or
current institutions. If you have completed fewer than 30 semester hours
or 45 quarter hours of college study, you must also submit an official
secondary school transcript or official results of the GED.
- Strongly suggested: register for and complete your Hyde
Interview .
Transfer Students
To be considered for admission,
students transferring to DU from another accredited institution must have
a competitive grade point average in all college course work. The admission
committee looks for:
- Grades that reflect solid work at the college
level--generally "B" grades or better
- Course work that demonstrates serious intentions
- Strongly suggested: register for and complete your Hyde
Interview .
In addition, we consider any special situation or circumstances that may
have influenced your academic performance in college. If you're unsure about
your candidacy to the University of Denver , please consult one of our admission
counselors.
