Performance Calendars

The Lamont School of Music presents free events open to the public throughout the academic year: student concerts and recitals, and the new guest artists master-class and workshop series. The big ensembles such as the Lamont Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Choruses and Jazz Ensembles, as well as chamber ensembles and opera scenes, each perform multiple times annually. The Lamont Opera Theatre Program presents a fully-staged opera each April (Mozart's Cosi fan tutte - or - The School of Lovers- in 2008), while Lamont ' s annual subscription concert series includes a variety of jazz and classical concerts featuring Lamont faculty members and guest artists, at very reasonable ticket prices. The Lamont School of Music presents three different concert series, an opera production, and several lectures, presentations and master-classes, all of them open to the public throughout the academic year.

Lamont Student Concert Series, featuring student recitals, are free admission and presented both at the Williams Recital Salon and Hamilton Recital Hall.

Lamont Ensemble Concert Series, also free admission, include large student ensembles presented at Gates Concert Hall, like The Lamont Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Choruses and Jazz Ensembles each performing multiple concerts annually, and smaller ensembles like percussion, guitar, wind and string chamber ensembles, jazz combos and others presented at Gates Concert Hall, Hamilton Recital Hall and the Williams Recital Salon.

The only ticketed concerts are the annual Lamont Subscription Concert Series , which includes a variety of jazz and classical concerts featuring Lamont faculty members both performers and composers, and guest artists. CD recordings and books by several Lamont faculty are available for sale at the University of Denver Bookstore 303 - 871 3251 at Driscoll University Center South.

Lamont Opera Theatre and the Lamont Symphony Orchestra present a full-length opera each April with two different castings. Reserved seating is offered at the four presentations of the opera at Gates Concert Hall, with tickets ranging from $9 to $26. Aside from the full-length opera production, the Lamont Opera Theatre Department, with Kenneth Cox as its director, also offers smaller productions every quarter at Hamilton Recital Hall called "Lamont Opera Scenes" free and open to the general public.

Lamont Guest Artists Master-Class and Workshop Series. 2007-2008 Season. Made possible in part by the generous support of the Galen and Ada Belle Spencere Foundation, all master-classes and workshops are free and open to the public (seating only) unless otherwise indicated.

TICKETS

To purchase tickets for each quarter for the Lamont Subscription Concert Series, please call 303. 871 7720 or visit the Newman Center Box Office. Single tickets can be purchased at the Box Office Monday to Friday 10 AM to 4 PM. Tickets are also available over the phone with Ticketmasters at 303. 357. ARTS, on line at www.ticketmaster.com, and at all Ticketmaster outlets.

Admission is FREE to all students, not only DU students, except the opera and fundraisers. Present a valid ID or University of Denver Pioneer card to receive your free ticket. Tickets will also be available one hour before concert time at the Newman Center Box Office, 2344 East Iliff Ave., second floor (street level)
