Brass students at the Lamont School of Music may select the Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Music, or Master of Arts in Music degrees. In conjunction with the University of Denver's Daniels School of Business, Lamont offers the 3/2 integrated Bachelor's/Master's degree program that enables a student to complete both an undergraduate degree in music and a Master of Business Administration degree in five years. Musicians interested in contemporary music styles may also pursue the Jazz Studies and Commercial Music Program.

Brass Studies at the Lamont School of Music is one of the exceptional brass training programs in the country, providing a dynamic, nurturing, and comprehensive program tailored to each student. Brass students at Lamont benefit from a close working relationship with the professional musicians of the Aries Brass Quintet and The Denver Brass, attending concerts and rehearsals of these ensembles as well as those of the Colorado Symphony. The Lamont Brass Ensemble performs much of the literature of The Denver Brass and all brass students present the annual "Concert for Jennie." Like all instrumentalists at Lamont, brass students perform in a variety of other chamber ensembles and in weekly performance classes. Large ensembles at Lamont include the Lamont Wind Ensemble, Lamont Jazz Orchestra, and the Lamont Symphony Orchestra.

Before his appointment to the Philharmonic, Warren held the positions of Principal Tubist with the Houston Symphony, and Teacher of Tuba at Rice University for two seasons.

Warren made his solo debut with the Philharmonic in 1989, performing the world premier of Roger Kellaway's Songs of Ascent for Tuba and Orchestra , commissioned by the Philharmonic.

As a member The Juilliard School faculty from 1989-2002, he has been active with students, and has given master classes in many regions of the world including the former Soviet Union, the Far East, and South America.
