First Official Event

The group's first official activity was a gathering at the 2004 CMEA convention at the Broadmoor Hotel. The event was a success! Joe Docksey hosted a reception at the Penrose Room of he Broadmoor, and then over 30 Lamont alumni, students, faculty and guest enjoyed dinner (and plenty of yummy margaritas) at José Muldoon's in Colorado Springs. Thanks to Lisa Appleton and Julie Haas for organizing the dinner!

CMEA Clinic/Conference 2007

• On Friday, January 19, 2006, Lamont School of Music Director, Joe Docksey, will once again host a Lamont Alumni reception at the Broadmoor Hotel, in conjunction with the CMEA Convention. The reception will be held in the newly-renovated Penrose Room from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M.  Business/professional  attire is required (no jeans, shorts, etc., jackets for the men) to enter the Penrose Room. To reach the Broadmoor, 1 Lake Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80906, (866) 837-9520, take I-25 south to Exit 138, Circle Drive, and exit onto Circle Drive.  Follow Circle Drive, which becomes Lake Avenue, approximately 2.6 miles to the Broadmoor.  It will be necessary to have a valet park your car.

Following this reception, at approximately 7:00 P.M., the Lamont Alumni Dinner will be held at the Mountain View Dining Room at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort, 3225 Broadmoor Valley Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80906, (719) 538-4000.  From the Broadmoor take Lake Ave. east, turn right at Cañon City 115 exit. Turn right at Cheyenne Blvd., and take a left at Broadmoor Valley Rd.  Directions will also be provided at the Lamont Alumni reception. As in the past, Julie Haas has arranged for this dinner.  There is a buffet or an ala carte menu.  The buffet is a special seafood buffet, all you can eat for $30, or order from the menu $9 to $20; everyone pays for his or her own meal. The next meeting of the Lamont Alumni Association is scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 6:15 P.M. in the Director's Lounge in the Newman Center.  You are all welcome to attend and participate.
