Musica Sacra Kicks off it season under the baton of its new conductor, MAESTRA CATHERINE SAILER, in a performance of a Bach Cantata, a Schubert symphony, and Corigliano's Voyage for flute and orchestra.

Ken Walker Sextet - Hailing from Denver, Ken Walker is the sextet's leader and bassist. He's also on the faculty of the Mile High Jazz Camp at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and the Lamont School of Music. Ken has performed with James Moody, Eric Alexander, Mose Allison, Della Reese and others. The rest of the sextet is also from Denver. Peter Sommer is a tenor saxophonist whose playing has a sense of urgency and adventure. Trumpeter Al Hood teaches trumpet and music theory at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music. Guitarist Dave Corbus is noted for the warmth ofhis sound, and pianist Jeff Jenkins is a creative virtuoso who utilizes the entire dynamic range of his instrument.

Celebrating Women In Jazz

Donna Wickham, vocals, will be joined by Eric Gunnison on piano, Kent McLagen on bass, and Paul Mullikin will be joining them for the 2nd set on percussion. They'll be doing some interesting music, from Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock to some original settings of poems by William Butler Yeats and Margaret of Navarre.
