Ian Hutchison (Bass) once had the esteemed honor of giving comedian Al Franken a private bass lesson.  Ian is one of the most versatile and busy bassists in the Denver today.  He has performed with Eric Gunnison, Todd Reid, Jeff Jenkins, Peter Sommer, and Keith Oxman, as well as local bluegrass heavies Grant Gordy, Ross Martin, and Charlie Rose.  Ian is well versed on several instruments, including guitar, percussion, and tuba.  He has shared the stage with nationally know saxophonist Javon Jackson, world-renowned composer David Amram, and with Andy Stein, the fiddle player on national public radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion.”  Ian graduated magna cum laude from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music in 2006, and was the recipient of numerous school awards, including jazz student of the year, a recital of distinction award, and best undergraduate in performance. Ian is always searching for new and exciting performance opportunities, and the Playground provides these amply for him.
