Navigating the Hazards of E-Discovery: A Manual for Judges in State Courts Across the Nation

Navigating the Hazards of E-Discovery: A Manual for Judges in State Courts Across the Nation
IAALS is deeply interested in the impact of e-discovery on our society. For this reason, we have reached out to an array of respected judges, lawyers, executives and technology experts to discuss an issue that is rapidly emerging on the American legal and business scene. Released in spring 2007, our first report on this subject serves as an excellent foundational guide for state court judges, who are interested in building their basic knowledge of electronically stored information and the myriad issues that flow from its use. Please watch for the release of two new reports on e-discovery in the spring of 2008. One of these publications will focus on the challenges America's companies face as they grapple with the impact of e-discovery on their business practices and bottom-line. While the other will provide you a real-time analysis from the people in the trenches of e-discovery.

2007 Civil Justice Reform Summit

2007 Civil Justice Reform Summit
In spring 2007, IAALS hosted an unprecedented gathering of state Supreme Court Justices, federal and state court judges and top legal reform experts from the U.S. and England. Civil justice system best practices in Oregon, Colorado and Singapore were discussed and Lord Harry Woolf of Barnes-the architect of England's legal system overhaul-made a presentation. The two-day event was moderated by IAALS Executive Director, Rebecca Love Kourlis, who opened the session by discussing the urgent need to re-tool America's civil justice system.
