Minutes of LISA Meetings

June 28, 2001

The June 28, 2001 LISA Meeting was held at Penrose Library.  President-Elect Lisa Cole called the meeting to order, with a total of seven students, alumni and faculty present.

On the agenda for discussion were the nominations and elections for the academic year 2001-2002.  Nominations had been received, with campaigning to be held during July, and the elections to be held the first two weeks of August.  It was decided that the first meeting in the Fall Quarter would be designated as a special reception to welcome the new officers and signify the beginning of their terms.

Also discussed was the survey of students conducted during finals week of the Spring Quarter.  The results indicate that students prefer meetings to be: on-campus, in the evenings, and focused on Alternative Careers, Professional Development, and Social Events.  Meeting attendees discussed various possibilities for future events that might include mock interviews, a practicum fair, or a vendor fair.

Amy Dissmeyer gave an update on the status of the Internet Committee, and asked that LISA vote on a change to the bylaws in September that would make the committee an official part of LISA.

Student presentations at CLA were briefly discussed for inclusion in the summer edition of the newsletter.  New Student Orientation was announced for Saturday, September 8th, and LISA was asked to have a presence at the orientation.

Meeting was adjourned.
